writing skills

I believe that the articles are correct. Writing skills should be very important and stressed more in out society. When in school, the emphasis is greater in elementary but it looses its focus when you reach high school. Many kids do not read when it is not necessary. I think that reading can help the idea of learning writing skills because you learn new vocabulary and your constantly reading the correct grammar structure. When you reach the last years of high school, its like assumed that you know how write correctly and many times that is not the case. I struggle with correct grammar, although the ideas are there. As mentioned in the article, most jobs involve some kind or writing task and applicants who can't write should not be considered for job or promotions. The information provided will not really effect me in any major way. The topic is something that i have thought about before. It will not change my habits because i am already trying to learn correct writing styles. I will be careful and proof read any writing I do involving a job or application. I will probably not begin to read or practice writing or change my habits because I feel I am making some progress in my writing. However, I do agree with the articles and the points that they make.

global problem

I think that David Keith may have valid solution to the problem. At least it appears this way, for emitting the particles into the atmosphere, may cause the heat to deflect off the particles and lower the effect of global warming. David seemed to be a very influential speaker. The fact is that nothing much is being done about this problem. People know about the topic however I don't believe they know how serious it is. Some may not even be worried because they will be dead and gone. I think that something needs to be done about the problem. David Keith presents a cheap but possibly effective way. He needs help from other people however, for he is almost alone, in researching solutions to the warming of the world. With more people, more research and more discoveries could be made , therefore leading to a solution if David Keith's proposal is not the answer.

NY Times article

The American Economy may be slowing down and may continue to get worse. However, Americans have been through this before. Economies have always had there highs and lows. I believe there is always a solution to the problem and it will be found eventually. The government may or may not be making mistakes, but government changes and eventually someone else's ideas will be brought into practice. The slow down may be good for the United States. Maybe Americans need to be woken up and stop spending themselves into debt. You cant have everything you want. The world will continue to run one way or another and the United States will realize that. The world should be able to run with out depending on the success of the United States economy. I don't think that interest rates should be lowered. The american dollar has already began to decrease in value and countries over seas are turning all there money into euros. The united states needs to find a solution for this before the currency is worth nothing.

Face

I agree with the guy on the clip. I think that people should be smart about what they put on sites such as myspace and facebook. Employers have a right to look at a persons face book as a back ground check. It can be very helpfull in eliminatingg candidates. The easiest way to solve the problem is to not put stuff on there that you wouldnt want your emploer to see. You can put pictures and information about yourself on the site without it being something that an employer looks at as demeaning. Face book is a good idea for college students to meet and talk to new people. However the students should realize that anybody can access the site and you never know who that could be.

China News post

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/14/world/asia/14china.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

This article talks about China's third largest fresh water lake, Lake Tai. The lake was an important natural source of agriculture for rice patties and a excellant source of fish. The lake became infected withc toxiz cyanobacteria, referred to as pond scum. The lake turned a flouresant green color and smelled for miles away. The article also explains of a man named Mr. Wu who was trying to help save the enviroment but is limited in China and eventually lost his job and arrested. My reactions was to this is that i think that the biggest problem in the world today is pollution and development. Almost everywhere you go you can see gaarbage along the road beacause people are to lazy to find a trash i guess. Large developments who are great for the economy also have a harmful effect with chemicals and poluting the enviroment. I think the world needs to find a solution to these problems because the enviroment is being destroyed. In china the polllution problem is at a all time hight because the communist party fears that enviromentalist are a threat. They worry about the those that speak out rather than the air and soil being polluted. As for the man arrested, i feel very bad for him. He was only trying to help the enviroment but he is restricted in his actions fearing the consequences he could face. The man trying to do good for China, was eveuntaully arrested and lost his job. Why should people be punished for trying to fix amajor problem faced by the world today. I think that is wrong. The world has changed in that it puts its economy and development over its enviroment, which i feel is wrong.

something that really bugs me

Not a lot of things really bug me but there a few. One thing that really bugs me i when people change around other people. Someone may act a certain way but then act totally different around other people to try to be "cool". Some may act nice to one person to their face but when they are around other people they may talk about the first person to fit in with the person they are now around. I guess its like going behind someones back but only to fit in. It just bugs when people think they should change for someone else. Another thing that bugs me is when someone wants attention all the time. People that want the spot light on them will do anything to try to get it and observing that bugs me a little bit. There isn't alot of things that really bug me.

wealth

When thinking of wealth the first idea that comes to my mind is being rich. This would be in the first quadrant of Wilber's four. The immediate thought I have of wealthy is people that have a lot of money and can spend it freely. To me the objective quadrant would include my thought of the wealthy living in mansions and driving expensive cars. Those are the material ideas that I get from thr thought of wealth. In the intersubjective quadrant, I bellieve our culture shares the idea that the wealthy have the nicest houses and vehicles. I also think our culture judges the wealthy to be a class of people that are "stuck up". I think that wealthy are better off economically and can survive when it comes to capitalism. The wealthy often can have an influence on government bills and tax debates and decisions.

short story

Once upon a time a frog was living in a swamp, not to far away from civilization. The swamp included various types of species including insects, snakes, fish, birds, frogs, and turtles. On a normal day you could see the herrings standing in the shallows looking for food or a turtle resting a fallen stump.
There was one special frog who found his home at this swamp after retiring from his group. One deep black night, there was a quarter moon and everything seemed quiet and peaceful. The frog ,however, seemed uneasy, he was ready for an adventure, perhaps something new. As he sat on a lilly pad in the swamp, he felt a hunger approaching ,but this was a different kind of hunger. He did not feel like the insects that he had been feeding on for the past year, however, he saw an orange box with black writing that read REESE PUFFS. He knew the box had been left by humans and he wanted to try it. He had seen the box earlier that day, on the shore close to where he was now.
He knew it would be dangerous to leave his spot at this time of night , and after ten minutes of debating he decided to go on his adventure. He leapt of the lily pad, hanging in the air for a split second and then hit the water sending small ripples across the surface. He began swimming, extending his back legs, in a hurry for he knew many predators were lurking in the deep of the night. Keeping his eyes fixed on the shore, he felt something behind him in the water. Suddenly something was right behind him and popped out of the water touching him. He knew it was a fish, one that his species had feared: BASS! He frantically began swimming, understanding that he was the target. He reached the shore without facing another attack.
As he crawled up the bank, the orange box was only several feet away. He hopped over and stared at what was inside. He found little black and tan balls about the size of 2 flies put together. Just as he was about to try one, he heard something slithering through the grass. It looked like a hose he had once seenby a rectangular structure before, but only this one moved. He became aware that it was a snake and fearing another attack he retreated to the forest as fast as he could.
He kept hopping on the hard, cold, damp ground of the forest untill he saw lights going back and forth on a road he had noticed before. He saw moving objects passing back and forth. For some odd reason, he had the urge to cross the road facing him now. He went out onto it and at that very instant an array of black flew past his face. He remembered that he and his frog friends called these moving objects cars. He then became tickled at the idea of trying to dodge these cars, so he did just that. Many times, they were right over top of him but he remained alive. The frog followed the road awhile, playing a game with these fast moving objects and eventually was killed. All around the forest, he was known as fogger, some species made up a game and named it after him.

fav band

I like various kinds of music but I would have to say my favorite band is probably matchbox twenty. They are mostly an alternative rock/pop band. They first formed in 1996 and their band members include Rob Thomas, Brian Yale, Adam Gaynor, Kyle Cook, and Paul Doucette. They are not a band known for like famous people in their band, only by their music. They don't have many albums but i have them all. I like their music because its simple, the music is not complicated, and the words are easy to understand. Their slow songs arn't boring slow and they're faster songs are really good. They're lyrics actually make sense when you read them, they aren't just their to go with the music. They are my favorite band because I like almost every song on their albums, not just two or three and the songs don't get old to me.
